Vacation Update 3- PCH, 17 mile drive, Point Lobos, Monterey
The boys and I left Gooley yesterday morning and headed to Muir Woods.. It was amazing. Truly.. Then we picnicked in Sausalito under the Golden Gate bridge… enjoying our fancy salads that we purchased from Trader Joe’s… (my new favorite place).
By the time we got back to the hotel yesterday, my back was killing me. We ate at the hotel and hit the hay early.
This morning we got up early.. packed a cooler and a suitcase and headed south… The temperature today ranged from 50-62. We had the top down and the heater on
- 17 mile drive (complete with hot chocolates at Pebble Beach)
- Point Lobos
- Monterey
- A wonderful dinner on the water on Cannery Row.
We saw sea lions, sea otters, deer, bunnies and countless other critters… Watching seal surf the waves is one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
I booked a hotel here in Monterey… we are staying here tonight.. doing the Monterey Aquarium and Carmel tomorrow before heading back to San Francisco to meet back up with Seven.
There is nothing like adventure filled days with my boys… No schedule. No agenda. No responsibility. And although we miss Seven… he’s not quite as ”fly by the seat of your pants” as I am….

I’m so glad you enjoyed your day! The Central Coast is one of my favorite places – so many things to see and do, or do nothing and just bask in the beauty. And sometimes leaving the wet blankies (i.e. DH’s) somewhere else is the best way to go. I generally leave with a direction and one big destination in mind, and just roll with it, since you never know what you might encounter along the way!
What did you think of the jellies exhibit? I just adore jellies, and am perfectly happy to sit for a few hours with my camera and creativity, making art.
Did you know that on summer Saturdays, the aquarium hosts family sleepovers? I’m waiting for Thing to grow up a little so we can all go (he’s 2). Oh, I could bore you to tears with my ramblings about my favorite place, so I’ll shut up.
Have a blast, and keep the pics coming!
