Summer 2013 Guest Blogger series welcomes Morgan from The Inklings of Life

Me & My Blog: A Love/Hate Relationship I don’t think there’s anyone in the world who has a bigger love/hate relationship with their blog than me. Seriously, there are days where I have to grab a glass bottle of wine, shut my computer off and say to hell with things until the morning… or 3 days from then.  So, when HMM asked if I’d like to share my story with her readers, I said ‘Hell Yeah’, for a few reasons: I adore HMM. A huge thanks to her for this opportunity. I’d get to cuss a hell of a lot more on her blog than I normally do on mine… which says something because I’m a tattoo artist turned SAHM, and we have filthy mouths (the tattoo artist part of me, not the … Read entire article »

Need some help.. Seriously.. let’s call it Market research I was going to do a poll on FB but I have too many caveats..  Please comment/respond as HONESTLY as possible!!  I want your feedback on this… IF you purchased a “there’s a chance this is vodka” Water bottle or if you have intentions of doing so in the future… I’m talking to you!      I’m working financials and need to streamline this process.. it’s killing me! Bottom Line:  I shipped 3 fucktons of bottles from October til today.  That is a lot of fucktons.  I want to keep the price at $15 if possible and not raise it.  HOWEVER.. the single bottle orders are killing me in time, supplies, labels, printer ink, etc.   I am going to have to raise the … Read entire article »

I will NOT cave. And I hate the Joneses

Every year….every fracking year..   I make my Christmas list (in Excel).  I purchase the desired items.  I color code by child/ order/ and delivery.  I spend too much money.   Every year. My boys are only permitted to ask Santa for 3 things.   When I first met Muffy years ago, before we were friends, she told me that her kids got only 3 gifts each for Christmas.  Our kids were really young..   “Only three??” I asked incredulously.  “Yup.. I tell them If it was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for you”.     I loved that and incorporated it into my “Santa letter” plan. So.. every year, I am methodical about my purchases.  They each have the exact same number of gifts under the tree and, on … Read entire article »

Thoughtful, homemade AND alcoholic…. makes a damn good gift.

Teacher gifts piss me off.   It’s not that I don’t appreciate teachers..  it’s the opposite.  My kids have been blessed with amazing teachers.  The gifted kid has extra teachers…the SLD kid has extra teachers…. add to that tutors and music teachers.. it’s half of my Christmas list.   And I’m a thoughtful gift giver.. I’m not generally a “walk through Marshall’s, pick up some stationary or some expired chocolates” type of shopper.    I like to put thought into my shizzle…. I have 3 kids.. they’ve been in school for a combined total of 22 years… I’m done.  I’m out of ideas.  I’m sick of monogramming. THIS year, they are getting liquor!!   {anyone who teaches my kids every day deserves liquor}.   I found a recipe and was very excited … Read entire article »

Spiegel.com ~ I think I found my party outfit

Sooooo… you know I am a compulsive online shopper.  It’s a problem.  Especially when I’m drinking.  If you follow me on Pinterest, you will see that I have an entire board named “Shit I buy when I’m drunk or bored”.   It may be my most populated board. Truly, online shopping is both the best and worst thing to ever happen to me.  I get overwhelmed when shopping in a store.  It’s sensory overload.  I go in looking for a black dress and walk out with pants, shirts, and a hot pink dress that a) I don’t need, b) I’ll never wear, and c) I won’t return because the cycle will start all over when I walk back into the store. When shopping online, I can filter and view only those items … Read entire article »

Losing my fat ass- the journey continues….

The past few weeks I’ve stayed at the 20 pound mark.  Some weeks down a pound , some weeks up a pound.. but the last 10 pounds are proving to be increasingly difficult to lose.  Of course, if I would stop drinking and eating cheese it would probably be easier.. but I cannot. Anyhoo… this week, I’m down 2.5 pounds..  Less than 10 pounds to go to my goal!  Very happy.   Proud of myself..  And so thankful and grateful to the team at Medi Weight Loss… couldn’t have done it without them.   Don’t forget, they have an HMM plan in place for any HMM reader anywhere in the country.  By using code MOM2012  you will receive $50 off initial visit and 10% off weekly follow ups (up to 20!) .  Good … Read entire article »
